Prescription pills and solid medications do not require declaration at domestic security checkpoints. However, liquid prescription medicines exceeding 3.4 ounces (100 ml), injectables, and syringes must be declared to checkpoint officers before screening begins for visual or explosive trace inspection under medical exemption guidelines.

TSA does not require one — declare the pen at the checkpoint. A prescription label speeds things up, and some airlines appreciate advance notice, but the pen itself is allowed.
